Our mission
The Netherlands Society of Gene Therapy (NVGT) was founded on March 19, 1999. In 2011, the society officially changed its name into the Netherlands Society of Gene and Cell Therapy (NVGCT). The society is dedicated to promoting basic and clinical research in the field of gene therapy, cell therapy and genetic vaccines.
The society aims to:
Facilitate the exchange of knowledge and expertise by organizing annual meetings for the scientific community. These meetings offer scientists the possibility to present recent developments in basal and (pre)clinical research. Furthermore, members of the NVGCT receive regular updates (via email) of important news in the field of gene or cell therapy. In addition, the society functions as a professional network, facilitating communication between its members.
Improve communication towards the public by providing up-to-date information via its website, but also by stimulating interaction between scientists, clinicians, patients, public and government.
Provide education within the professional community by organizing scientific meetings (including keynote lectures by internationally renowned speakers) and by publication of readers and other useful information.
